Problem occurred after reactivating computer from hibernate.īeen to Device manager ad even the box for Sound, video, and game controllers is missing. I have a similar problem, Windows home vista, Toshiba satellite pro U305 with 2Gb of Ram. This also seems to have magically dissapeared from the computer, any advice would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks. The help/support centre was also hit and now displays the following `Windows cannot find `helpctr.exe` Blah, blah, blah. Obviously iv`e tried looking there and i havn`t got anything to install, I would appreciate it if you could tell me where to get the Windows XP Volume control software (or whatever it is) from or how to resolve this problem, My pc was hit by a bad virus after an install which knocked out a *** of a lot of stuff including restore points, some files dissapeared, add/remove options missing and stuff like that, generally not things you would notice immediately but things you need quite urgently at times. When i try to put it back on the taskbar by control panel > sounds, speech and audio devices > sounds and audio devices > volume > place volume icon in taskbar, I keep getting an error = ' Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the volume control program has not been installed, to install it, use add/remove programs in control panel.' Id like the volume displayed in my taskbar, for some reason it dissapeared ages ago. Hi mate, I have a slightly different issue.
